Mary Christine Brezny was born July 16, 1926, in Prague, and departed this life Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Prague, at the age of 84.
Mary, the daughter of Jerome Stephen and Vera Christine (Studler) Pratka, was a lifelong resident of Prague. She married Edward Wesley Brezny Nov. 20, 1946, in Prague.
He preceded her in death June 7, 1986. Mary was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and was a Certified Nurse's Aide at the Prague Hospital for 40 years. Her parents; one brother, Johnny; and one grandson, Gary Don Brezny, also preceded Mary in death.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Edward Joe and Barbara Brezny, of Tecumseh; daughter, Shirley Brezny, of Prague; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Shirlene Pratka, of Prague, Steve and Pam Pratka, of Prague; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillie Bartos, of Prague, Agnes Pratka, of Prague, Aileen and Vernie Jordan, of Prague, Geraldine Harper, of Prague, Rosalie and Joe Navrath, of Prague; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Brezny, of Oklahoma City.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. A mass of christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague with Father Price Oswalt officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague. A guestbook is available to share your memories online. The census lists Mary as 22 years old when she was married - which gives us this date range. However, if you use Louis' age at the time of marriage (28), it pushes the range forward about 1 year. But this does not make sense as they would have been married AFTER Edward was born - which was very rare back then.
