Marilynn Jeanne Konda
Jul. 16, 1930
Dec. 08, 2022
Marilynn Jeanne Konda of Porterville, CA passed away peacefully December 8th, 2022, at Quail Park in Visalia. She was born July 16th, 1930, to John and Marie Anna (Mamie) Noziska in Terra Bella, CA. Marilynn was the youngest of four children. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Spencer Nebraska for her elementary school years where her parents owned and operated the General Store there. In the 1940s Marilynn's family moved back to Porterville and in 1947 she graduated from Porterville High School where she was awarded the "Female Athlete of the Year" for her involvement with the Panther's Powder Puff Football, Basketball and Tennis teams. In 1951, she received her RN nursing degree from St. Vincent's College of Nursing in Los Angeles, CA. Marilynn worked at the Lindsay Hospital in the 1950s as an Emergency Room nurse before beginning her ongoing career as a wife, mother and grandmother. She married Joseph Konda February 18th, 1957, at Saint Anne's Church in Porterville. Their love produced three kids: Mary, Matt and Mike and they became her primary focus to raise in a loving home.
Marilynn loved God and loved people. She was a dedicated member of her church serving for decades on the St. Anne's Altar Society; she was also the 5th grade teacher in the Catechism program for many years as well. Later in life, she served with Deacon Jim taking Communion to those serving at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility in Tulare County. Additionally, she was affectionately known as the "Bean Lady" supplying baked beans for every main function at Hope Elementary School while her children attended. Marilynn never missed any of her kids' school, sporting, band, 4H or FFA functions and was a regular attender at her grandkid's events as well. After her children went to college in the mid 1980s, Marilynn decided to return to nursing and became the RN in charge of the tracheotomy floor at the Porterville Development Center. Marilynn's loving and selfless personality blessed the residents she had the opportunity to serve until her retirement in 1995. After Joe's passing in 2002, Marilynn continued to provide a loving and welcoming home where everyone who visited felt like family.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cecelia Marx, sister Lucile Connot and brother Charles Noziska. Marilynn is survived by daughter Mary Sharp and her husband Kevin Sharp, her son Matthew and wife Regina Burch-Konda and her son Michael Konda and wife Suzy Konda. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Alexandrea Sharp, Jacob Burch-Konda, Joshua Burch-Konda, Jessica Burch-Konda, Amelia Konda, Olivia Konda and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank the various caregivers that provided exceptional, loving care for Marilynn over the years. They included: Jackie Wolfe-Seguin, Larisa Rodriguez, Audelia Chavez, Ava Miller, Roberta Sotelo and all the Caring Hearts staff, the Hospice nurses and the staffs at Sierra Hills in Porterville and Quail Park in Visalia.
