On Saturday, January 14, 2012, Walter Halwa of Leduc, Alberta passed away at the age of 92 years.
Walter is survived by his loving family, wife of 63 years Leona, children Annette (Richard) Bell, Alan (Connie) and Valerie (Kurt Osterman) Anderson, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters Stella Manchak and Millie (Ernie) Borchert; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Walter was predeceased by one daughter Cecilia Vogel, one grandson Marcus Anderson, two sisters Tillie Adams and Helen Halwa.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (25521 Highway 19) with Reverend James Bodula, SAC as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leona Halwa of Leduc, AB, on February 21, 2022, at the age of 93.
Leona will be lovingly remembered by her children Annette (Rick), Alan, and Valerie (Kurt); grandchildren Christine, Nicole (Mike), Brad (Jen), Scott, Chelsea (Braden), Abbey (Trevor) and Colton; brother Isadore (Doreen); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leona was predeceased by her husband Walter; daughter Cecelia; and brother Todd.

Yes my grandma Leona Halwa (Manchak) passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 (not quite a year ago). I think she was 93 years (born in October 1928). There was a funeral service for her in mid-June 2022 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Nisku. She was cremated and her ashes buried with my grandpa Walter Halwa at the church cemetery.
