- [S1326] Obituary of Dolores Teresa Cecilia "Dol" HAYKOWSKY, (Name: Edmonton Journal; Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Date: 10 May 2023;).
HAYKOWSKY, Dolores Teresa Cecilia "Dol"
Dolores Haykowsky passed away on May 7, 2023, at the age of 87, in the loving arms of her children, Teresa (Tom Solyom), Carmella, and Mark (Laurie); and grandchildren Kazimir, Mika, Luke and Abby Haykowsky. She was her family's North, South, East and West.
Born into a close-knit family on January 21, 1936, in Smoky Lake, Alberta, Dol, as she was lovingly called, was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Rose Stasuk; and survived by her cherished siblings, June Haydak (predeceased John Haydak), Pat Mudie (Bill), and Ron Stasuk.
In her life Dolores was blessed with two devoted spouses. She was happily married to her soulmate, Michael Haykowsky who passed away on April 3, 1994. Dol's second loving marriage, with Edwin Pintkowski on August 18, 1997, lasted for 25 years until Edwin's heartbreaking passing on December 26, 2022.
Dol had a gift of connecting with people and making them feel appreciated. Her quick mind, and open and accepting attitude made her a best friend and confidante to many. Everyone's lives were brighter for having known Dol, who was ever optimistic, effervescent, and inquisitive.
Despite her many interests and friends, Dol was entirely devoted to her family. She reveled in spending time with her children, son and daughter in law, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. Dol's joy and love will be deeply missed by her family.
Dolores was a person of deep faith. She passed away just prior to the Hour of Mercy in the Month of Mary. During the week before, and until the moment of her passing, at the U of A Hospital, our mother continued to guide and teach us by her courage, grace, strength and mercy. We are forever grateful.
A Prayer Service will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12810 - 111 Avenue, Edmonton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church with interment Monday, May 15, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Cemetery, 13819 - 82 Street NW, Edmonton. In keeping with her joyful approach to life, Dolores requested that family and friends wear bright colours to her funeral. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation."Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever" Psalm 23:6
