    1. [S1073] Obituary of Barbara Joan WORKUN, (Name: Calgary Herald; Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Date: 02 Apr 2016;).
      WORKUN, Barbara
Barbara Joan Workun passed away peacefully at the age 84, on April 1, 2016, after a long fight with Dementia. She was born in Edmonton in 1931. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends, her love of curling, her smile and her pioneer spirit. She was always willing to help out - no task too big when helping a friend. She leaves her daughters; Dawn (Bob) Rosine; Margaret (Dave) Atnikov, and son Wayne (Kathy) Workun along with her treasured grandchildren, Lindsay, Kelen, Jessica, Connor, Kaden, Kael. Barb was predeceased by her loving husband Andy (2000) whom she married in 1956; Her parents Emma (2005) and Harry Bryer (1975) and her sisters, Carol Johnson (1986) and Margie Mill (2014). She is survived her beloved sister, Shirley Breijer. For the last 7.5 years, she has been surrounded by the extended 'family' at Prince of Peace Harbour – Barb lived in the Villas for ½ a year, then the Manor for 3 years and then she lived in the Harbour for 3 years. Their continued care and love of Barb was deeply appreciated by all who held her dear. At Barbara's request, no funeral will be held. Her family held a Despacho Ceremony two years ago to honour her life and show her how loved she was. We were all privileged to have had her as our mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Prince of Peace Harbour (mail to 285030 Luther Rose Blvd, Calgary, AB, T1X-1M9; phone 403-285-5080). Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services (403) 277-7343.
