Mrs. Novak was born August 25, 1909, three miles west of Elba, to Anton and Bessie (Tuma) Svoboda. At the age of nine years she moved with her parents two miles north of Ord and attended the Melia School. The family then moved west of Ord and she attended the Brace School. On March 19, 1929, she married Frank Novak at Broken Bow. The couple lived on the Novak farm west of Ord. In 1969 they moved into the town of Ord. Mr. Novak died Sept. 7, 1996. Mrs. Novak continued to live in Ord until her death.
While on the farm she enjoyed raising chickens and gardening. While living in town she did craft work, grew flowers and spent time at the Senior Center.
