    2. [S1230] Obituary of Wanda M. DALEY, (Name: Akron Beakon Journal; Location: Akron, Summit, Ohio, USA; Date: 27 Jul 2013;).
Wanda M. Lewis Daley passed away on July 20 at the age of 99.

She was born on May 18, 1914, in Mt. Hope, W.Va., to Albert Henry Lewis and Jennie Mariah Angus Abshire Lewis. After graduating from Mt. Hope High School, she moved to Akron where she discovered the Big Band sound of Jimmy Daley and His Orchestra. She and Jim were married in 1933 and had three children who also became professional musicians.

A consummate caregiver, Wanda provided for the needs of both her immediate family and many extended family members. She volunteered with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile program in Akron and at the Summit County Home. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Akron, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great-grand-mother, she was known for her playful spirit – a gift she shared generously. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jennie; stepfather, James W. Sawyers; beloved husband, James T. Daley; brother, Cecil (Gertrude) Lewis of Akron; sister, Nellie Jane (Clayton) Smith of Dallas, TX; half-brother, George (Mabel) Abshire of Mt. Hope, W.Va.; half-sister, Hazel Abshire (J.J. "Jack") Goldie; and half-sister, Willie Muriel Abshire (B.J.) Adams (George) Hatch, both of Akron. She is survived by children, Marilyn and Dr. Douglas Boldon of Granville, James and Diane Daley of Charlotte, N.C., and Nancy Daley of Akron; grandchildren Kristin Boldon (George Fischer) of Minneapolis, Minn., Amy Boldon Harper of Philadelphia, Pa., Emily Boldon of Boston, Mass., and Carol (Stacy) Cook and Steven (Janel) Daley of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grand-children, Camille, Halle, and Jane Obendorf, and Vince Daley of Charlotte, N.C.; Drew and Gus Fischer of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Jay Harper of Philadelphia, Pa.; niece, Roberta Butler; and nephew, Jeff Lewis, both of Akron.

A private graveside service has been held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn. In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorial contributions in her name be made to The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, or Summa Hospice.
