      Columbus, NE. Died peacefully at home. Theresa Ann German Mrzlak was born September 30, 1916 in Humphrey, NE to Basil Joseph and Anna (Wemhoff) German. She married Nicholas James Mrzlak on January 10, 1942 in Omaha, NE. The couple resided in Omaha for a short time and then moved to Columbus where she and Mr. Mrzlak reared their family. She was a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph Creighton Memorial School of Nursing and was a licensed x-ray technician. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha and at St. Mary's hospital in Columbus. Nick and Tag Mrzlak owned and in their later years operated the Country Club Inn Motel in Columbus, often a source of great fun, until the March 1993 flood. During her last years she resided with daughters in Omaha, Redondo Beach, CA, Laguna Niguel and Laguna Hills, CA and most recently with Margaret and Joe Matejka in Columbus in the family home now belonging to the Matejka's. Theresa was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a 69-year member of The Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past president of the St. Marys Hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed Scrabble, crossword puzzles, e-mail correspondence, Facebook, old movies, and family gatherings. She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Joe) Matejka of Houston, TX, Maxine (David) Brown of Laguna Hills, CA, Barbara (Dr. Gerald) Brundo of Omaha, Betty (Ron) Mann of Mission Viejo, CA; Carol (Peter) Rygol of Omaha, Paulette (John) Power of Chicago, IL, Rosemarie Reidel of Greeley, CO, Terese (Leon) Barden of Redondo Beach, CA, Suzanne (Dave) Melliger of Omaha; sons, Jim Mrzlak of Center, CO, Gregg (Lydia) Mrzlak of San Antonio, TX; 28 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Nicholas J. Mrzlak; parents Basil and Anna (Wemhoff) German; grandson Travis Melliger; son-in-law Joe E. Lee; sisters, Apollonia Goeckel, Elizabeth Polt, Cecelia Polt, Mary Martischang, Agnes Michaelsen; brother, Aloys German.

      Nicholas died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at his home in Columbus. Nicholas James Mrzlak was born May 28, 1914 in Omaha, Nebraska to Nicholas Charles and Barbara (Cepuran) Mrzlak. He married Theresa German on January 10, 1942 in Omaha. The couple resided in Omaha for a short time and then moved to Columbus where he and Mrs. Mrzlak reared their family.

      He was involved in the real estate and insurance business and was owner of the Country Club Inn Motel in Columbus. During his later years he and Mrs. Mrzlak resided in Redondo Beach, California. They recently returned to Columbus where he wished to live out his final days. Nicholas was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a past president of the Optimist Club.
