BUCKNELL, Lucille Amelia
January 6, 1928 – October 25, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Bucknell of Edmonton. Lucille was 89 years of age and survived by her sons, Bradley and Barry (Tina) and daughter Barbara (Rick); three grandchildren, Sarah (Mark), David (Natalie) and Henri; and five great-grandchildren, Haven, Conner, Tristan, Emma and Violet, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by Harold, her husband of 62 years; parents, Mary and William Melnyk; sisters Kate, Annie, Helen, Eva and Doris and her brother John.
Lucille was born in Edmonton and lived here all her life, but for the four or five months when she took a job in Fort St. John, met Harold and returned to the city to marry. She marvelled at the changes she had seen the city undergo in all that time, recalling how the Hotel MacDonald was once the largest building in town and it could be seen from anywhere; today, she lamented, it can hardly be found.
Mom died peacefully and at peace with her world. She loved her family and adored her great-grandchildren. She will be missed deeply.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 RR 232 (south of Wye Road), with a Funeral Service celebrating her life to follow at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hope Mission, 9908-106 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5H 2N7.

- [S1201] Obituary of Allan Fred JAHELKA, (Name: dignitymemorial.com;).
Jahelka, Allan Fred
November 10th, 1937 - June 13, 2011
Born in Nordegg, Alberta
Allan Jahelka, our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at Cowichan District Hospital surrounded by his family on June 13, 2011. After a long, hard fought battle with heart disease, he is now finally at peace.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend Sharon of 54 years, children; Mickey (Lynn), Terri (John Nardino), Kris (Jason Kearns). Predeceased by his parents Reginald and Helen Jahelka of Canmore, Alberta.
Allan started his working career on the oil rigs and coal mines in Alberta. After settling down in the Cowichan Valley in the mid 50's, Allan eventually apprenticed as a plumber then a heating mechanic with Griffiths which then lead to starting his own company, Allan's Oil Burner Service.
Though always busy with his work, Allan tried to support his kids in whatever teams or events they participated in. His enthusiastic, “super-fan” approach was seldom matched at the Timberman football games of the mid 70's. Many long-term friendships were started on the sidelines of a court or field.
Allan was never happier than when he was with family and friends. He enjoyed many summers of camping at Shawnigan Lake, fishing in Campbell River, Renfrew and Sooke, but nothing gave him more pleasure than his 7 grandchildren Devin (Carlee), Chad, Kylie (Matt), Travis, Jaleesa, Sydney, Jordan and most recently the addition of his first, great grandchild Rylan.
Thank you to Dad’s many friends and acquaintances that have supported him and us over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of Allan’s life will be held at the Moose Lodge, 2244 Moose Road, Duncan BC , Monday June 20th, 1:30pm - 4:00 pm.¬
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan, BC.
