BUCKNELL, Harold
January 20, 1920 ~ May 10, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Bucknell of Edmonton. Harold was 92 years of age and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille, his daughter, Barbara (Rick) Feist; sons, Brad and Barry (Tina); grandchildren, Henri, Sarah (Mark), David (Natalie) and great-grandchildren, Haven, Conner and Tristan (Tarzan); sister, Gladys Dale and brothers, Robert (Isabel) and Jim (Edith) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary; sisters, Katherine, Edith and Louise and his brother, Wray.
Harold was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school Harold took technical training in radio communications, spending the second world war on the Canadian west coast managing naval and land communications. After the war he was assigned to Snag, Yukon and later to Fort St. John, where he met Lucille. They were married late in 1950 and settled in Edmonton. After retirement Harold was a passionate bridge player and was disappointed in not finding any players in his last days in the hospital.

BUCKNELL, Lucille Amelia
January 6, 1928 – October 25, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Bucknell of Edmonton. Lucille was 89 years of age and survived by her sons, Bradley and Barry (Tina) and daughter Barbara (Rick); three grandchildren, Sarah (Mark), David (Natalie) and Henri; and five great-grandchildren, Haven, Conner, Tristan, Emma and Violet, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by Harold, her husband of 62 years; parents, Mary and William Melnyk; sisters Kate, Annie, Helen, Eva and Doris and her brother John.
Lucille was born in Edmonton and lived here all her life, but for the four or five months when she took a job in Fort St. John, met Harold and returned to the city to marry. She marvelled at the changes she had seen the city undergo in all that time, recalling how the Hotel MacDonald was once the largest building in town and it could be seen from anywhere; today, she lamented, it can hardly be found.
Mom died peacefully and at peace with her world. She loved her family and adored her great-grandchildren. She will be missed deeply.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 RR 232 (south of Wye Road), with a Funeral Service celebrating her life to follow at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hope Mission, 9908-106 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5H 2N7.
