She was 96 years old. She will be missed and remembered for her strength, independence, cinnamon rolls, and being the best "Grandma" ever. She loved spending her summers out at Pigeon Lake. Evelyn is survived by her son, Bob Ruzicka (Suzanne Mir); daughter, Lynne Ruzicka (Tom Owen); sister, Lois MacKay (Bill); brother, Larry Powell; grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Evelyn's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of 11Y at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, and the staff of the 5th floor in Rosedale Estates. Diane Marie Lloyd (nee Ruszicka) By GWENDOLYN ROSS Thorsby Correspondent Diane Marie Lloyd of Edmonton died in hospital Aug. 9 at the age of 49 years. She is survived by her husband Donald; four children, Christopher, Megan, Jason and Paul; her mother Evelyn Ruzicka, of Edmonton; brothers Bob and wife Deryl of British Columbia, Lorne and wife Claire; sister Lynne Owen and husband Tom; her husband's parents Dr. and Mrs. V.M. Lloyd all of Edmonton; many other relatives, friends and students. Diane was the oldest daughter of Joe and Evelyn Ruzicka and grew up in Thorsby and attended school there. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Alberta and became a teacher specializing in music. She taught in Edmonton schools, most recently at St. Anthony Parish school. She marked her 49th birthday the previous Sunday, Aug. 6. After the interment all who had attended the service were invited to her husband's home for fellowship. Her mother Evelyn Ruzicka said Diane had many friends and students who she appreciated very much and had suffered her affliction with courage and strength in her Christian faith. The friendship of her former classmates meant a lot to her and numerous friends were at the funeral. A prayer service was held Aug. 10 in Park Memorial Chapel, with a Mass of Christian burial Aug. 11 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. M. McCaffery officiating.
