  [S1474] Obituary of Margie Ann MAYBERRY, (Date: Abt. 21 May 2019;). Margie Ann "Marge" Mayberry, 80, of Normal, Illinois, formerly of Burwell, Nebraska died May 18, 2019 at Normal, Illinois. A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. June 8, 2019 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements. Marge was born February 10, 1939 on the family farm on Haskell Creek Road in Valley County, Nebraska to James and Margaret (Walkowiak) Svoboda. She attended grade school at District 17 and graduated from Ord High School in 1956. Marge lived in Aurora, Colorado from 1956 to 1957 where she worked at Stanley Aviation. She then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska until 1996. She worked at Crocker Claims Service where she was an insurance adjuster from 1957 to 1987. Marge marred Edward Allen on March 19, 1960 in Wolbach, Nebraska. Ed died on August 1, 1987. Marge worked in medical records at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island and Mary Lanning Hospital from 1987 until 1996. Marge married Warren "Joe" Curran on February 14, 1988 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Joe died on June 27, 1996. Marge marred Harold "Skeeter" Mayberry on October 3, 1996 in Salmon, Idaho. They moved to Burwell and had a "mom and pop" construction company. Marge also worked at the court house and the Pizza Palace for about eight years, until her health started to fail. Skeeter died on May 21, 2015. Marge moved to Normal, Illinois to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Marge was a member of the Insurance women of Grand Island and held every office at the local level. She was a troop leader for Brownie Scouts and Jr. Girl Scouts for several years and the head of the Alter Guild at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island for twelve years. Marge is survived by her daughter, Kelly Scalf of Normal, Illinois. Grandchildren Zachary and Sally Nadeau of Normal, Illinois, Kylie Nadeau of Nashville, Tennessee, Kristen Scalf of Normal, Illinois. Harold "Skeeter" Mayberry June 3, 1942 — May 21, 2015 BURWELL --- Harold (Skeeter) Leroy Mayberry Jr., 72, of Burwell, Nebraska died from complications due to diabetes at Community Memorial Health Center May 21st, 2015. He was born June 3, 1942 in Burwell to Harold (Hoss) and Clara (Lowery) Mayberry. After graduating from Burwell High School, he moved to Seattle, Washington where he worked for Boeing. In 1966 he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Miramar Naval Base in San Diego, California. He served three tours on two different ships in the Philippines, the USS Bonhomme Richard and the USS Hancock. He was a mechanic for the F8 Crusader fighter jets on both ships. After he was honorably discharged in 1970, he moved to the Bitterroot Valley in Montana. Skeeter worked as a mechanic, carpenter and welder throughout his life. Skeeter enjoyed fishing, wood working, quilting, family and friends. He never knew a stranger anywhere he ventured. He always had a twinkle in his eye, a great story to tell, or a made up song to sing. On October 3rd, 1996 he married Margie Ann Svoboda and moved back to Burwell. Survivors include wife Margie Ann (Svoboda) Mayberry of Burwell; daughter Tracy (David) Reiner and granddaughter Tressa Reiner of Burwell; sisters Marilyn (Jim) Svoboda and Mary Ann (Ken) Hirlinger all of Ord, Nebraska; cousins Vern (Dorothy) Francis, Ron (Linda) Francis and Daryl (Jan) Francis all of Washington; stepdaughter Kelly Scalf and step grandchildren Kristen Scalf, Kylie Nadeau and Zachary (Sally) Nadeau all of Illinois; stepchildren Teresa (Parks) Mix and Tami (Parks) Berry and multiple step grandchildren and step great grandchildren all of Montana. Skeeter was preceded in death by his parents Hoss and Clara Mayberry, his first wife Kathy (Woolsey) Mayberry, his second wife Garnet Merlene (Parks) Mayberry, stepson Tony Parks, and lifelong friend and brother in arms David Isaac Terrell of Brook, Indiana. A visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday May 26th, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell 5 PM to 6:30 PM. Private memorial graveside services with military honors will be held at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
