SENIO, J. Alexander
Alex was born on February 18, 1925 in Leduc, Alberta and passed away peacefully in his sleep in Edmonton on December 26, 2014.
He was the youngest of eight siblings born to Anton and Catherine Senio.
At an early age he was taught responsibility. This early lesson in life characterized his behaviour until his passing.
Alex was an avid sports enthusiast and athlete. He played hockey and baseball until his late 30's. This was highlighted by an invitation to major league baseball's Boston Red Sox training camp as well as a tryout with the Cleveland Baron's professional hockey team.
As time passed he continued with other sporting passions including golf, camping and attending football games. He was an Edmonton Eskimo season ticket holder for over fifty years and will be remembered for giving high fives after Eskimo touchdowns well into his eighties.
He will be remembered by many qualities including his sense of hospitality, a dry sense of humour and wit, a passion for a well-manicured lawns and his involvement with grandchildren's activities.
To provide for his family Alex worked as a professional accountant.
He leaves his wife Loretta of sixty-two years; son Darryl (Janice); grandson Brian; granddaughter Katherine; his sister Millie and many nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by son Brian; parents Catherine and Anton; brothers Steve, Mike and Andrew and sisters Mary, Helen and Doris.
Reverend Mitch Fidyka will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Catholic Church, 9040 - 95 Avenue, Edmonton, on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at St. Joachim's Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Brian Senio Foundation (c/o Newman Theological College and St. Joseph Seminary, Edmonton).

On December 30, 1981, Mr. Michael F. Bara, Leduc, Alberta, passed away aged 89 years.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Kate; two daughters and six sons, Mrs. Victo (Leona) Checknita, Edmonton; Mrs. Andrew (Clara) Senio, Calmar; Marvin, Kenneth and Norman, Edmonton; Reginald and Eldon, Leduc; Bernard, Brooks, Alberta; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Manchak and Mrs. Victoria Krysa, Edmonton. Mr. Bara was predeceased by his first wife, Anne in 1953; sons, Edward in 1928 and Edwin in 1980 as well as two sisters, Mrs. Kate (Manchak) Halwa and Mrs. Anne Spilak and three brothers, Luke, John and Albert.
Prayers, Sunday, January 3, 1982, in the Wild Rose Chapel of Connelly-McKinley Ltd., 10011 114 Street, at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, January 4, 1982, at Holy Trinity Church, Nisku, at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Thaddeus Rataj will officiate with interment in the Church Cemetery.

On October 30, 1983 Mr. Atanas Senio of the Jubilee Nursing Lodge, Edmonton, formerly of Calmar passed away at the age of 90 years.
Survived by 4 sons and four daughters, Stephen and Bernadette of Edmonton, Andrew and Clara of Calmar, Michael and Rose, Alex and Loretta of Edmonton, Mrs. Mary Yerkovich of Mrs. Helen (John) Evanson of Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. Millie Hannas and her husband Fred of Leduc, Mrs. Doris Manchak of Calmar; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Katherine in 1934 and two grandsons.
Prayers Wednesday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Triniy Ukrainian Catholic Church in Calmar. Divine Liturgy Thursday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Calmar. Reverend S. Kuzel OSBM officiating with interment in the church cemetery, Calmar. Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, November 1 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home (9709 - 111 Avenue).
